Pikes Swimming Club is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all members, including swimmers, parents/guardians, coaches, and officials. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected standards of behavior.
General Principles
All individuals associated with Pikes Swimming Club shall:
- Treat everyone with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, ability, or sexual orientation.
- Promote sportsmanship, fair play, and a positive attitude.
- Refrain from any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abuse (verbal, physical, or emotional).
- Respect Club property, equipment, and the facilities we use.
- Adhere to all Club policies, rules, and the spirit of swimming.
Code of Conduct for Swimmers
As a swimmer at Pikes Swimming Club, I will:
- Listen to my coaches and follow their instructions.
- Treat my teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials with respect.
- Always try my best and maintain a positive attitude, even during challenging times.
- Attend training sessions regularly and on time, prepared to swim.
- Inform my coach if I am injured or unable to participate.
- Refrain from using inappropriate language or gestures.
- Support my teammates and celebrate their successes.
- Take care of Club equipment and report any damage.
- Never use performance-enhancing drugs or substances.
- Adhere to all pool safety rules.
Code of Conduct for Parents/Guardians
As a parent/guardian of a swimmer at Pikes Swimming Club, I will:
- Encourage my child to swim for fun, skill development, and fitness.
- Promote sportsmanship and respect for all participants.
- Support the coaches and their decisions. If I have concerns, I will address them privately and respectfully with the coach or Club management.
- Refrain from coaching my child from the sidelines during training or competitions.
- Ensure my child arrives on time for training and events, properly equipped.
- Inform the coach of any absences in advance, where possible.
- Focus on my child's effort and improvement, not just winning.
- Volunteer to help the Club when possible.
- Not criticize swimmers, coaches, officials, or other parents.
- Familiarize myself with Club policies and procedures.
Code of Conduct for Coaches
As a coach at Pikes Swimming Club, I will:
- Place the well-being, safety, and development of swimmers above all else.
- Provide a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Treat all swimmers, parents, colleagues, and officials with respect and fairness.
- Be a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.
- Plan and deliver safe and effective training programs appropriate to the swimmers' age and ability.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with swimmers and parents.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Continuously seek to improve my coaching knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to all Club policies and the governing body's regulations.
- Never use or condone the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
Breaches of the Code of Conduct
Any alleged breaches of this Code of Conduct will be taken seriously and investigated by Pikes Swimming Club management.
Consequences for breaching the Code of Conduct may vary depending on the severity and frequency of the offense and may include, but are not limited to:
- Verbal or written warning.
- Temporary suspension from training or Club activities.
- Permanent suspension or termination of membership.
- Reporting to relevant authorities if the breach involves illegal activity.
